holy lord, i'm in vacation in China and i went to one of their pet stores. You'll never guess wat i saw. I saw a medium sailfin tang for 10 dollars american,
a huge 180 gallon tank with stand for 100 american.
hippo tangs for 5 dollars american. corals for like 3.5 dollars american each no matter wat coral (except sps). Sps corals were around 5. american. and for freshwater ppl. They sold red arowanas, goldbacked arowanas(which i think are illegal in America) they were really beautiful. beatiful discuses for 3 dollars each. PURE RED(AND I MEAN PURE RED) BLOOD PARROTS FOR ALSO 3 DOLLARS EACH. holy lord. im moving back to china

How well is everything kept? Are the stores like ours or thirs world crap?

I think I will stay here also. China can keep there goldfish and low prices. Quality is here. And freedom...

I dunno, i'd rather be back here where you aren't executed for taking a bribe. pricing is nice though, but that's cause they are probably eating them

i wonder what customs would charge to get them over here.

But on a serious note, I bet you could get that tank and stand shipped over here for alot less than you would pay at a LFS.

Dude I almost spit my beer out all over the place! The mental thought of smuggle a tang in the ole shoot made me laugh.

omg...I wouldnt want to be that poor little oxygen deprived tang. I worked at customs for a few years and I've seen alot of stuff smuggled but that would be a new one for sure..

the conditions of the sailfin and the hippo were perfect. 1 sailfin with a few small fish in(i'm guessing) an 180 gallon tank, cause it looked 3 times bigger than my tank. the hippos were in a pretty big 200ish tank the guy told me.hmmm i might bring back the 180 but doesn't bringing bcak large objects cost extra money/???

Yeah I saw the same things when I went to Thailand a few years ago. The worst thing I saw though was a black-tip reef shark in a tank that was 3' long.

those particular tangs come from that part of the world, right? so you have a fish selling for $5, then with customs, shipping, etc, it turns into $70 here. nice.

Well even to buy a 180g over there, shipping would bring the prices to the same as here, but still 100$! THey sell 90 aquariums for like over 500$ here.

yeah it does... and there's also the chance that it will just fall apart and dump 180 gallons of water on your floor when you try to use it. hahaha

dang my pet store that sells corals so high its 50 bucks per peice and they never have sps and they only have frags
