i have a very good education
and most kids do burn themselves wen u tell them not to touch
and just cause i support marijuana and parents not controlling every thing their kids do
doesn't mean i am a moron or uneducated
and marijuana is in the same state alcohol was in
prohibition
the only reason why it was ever made illegal was political
i was going to college for chemical eng and doing very well
decided i wanted to be a firefighter instead
also u cudnt show me any proof that weed kills or make u do other drugs
one could say that alcohol(a drug) leads to other drugs
also there are some things u have to learn for yourself
and to the guy that is a former cop
maybe u shud educate urself instead of just listening to what authority tells you
use the internet and do some research about how many deaths where cause by overdosing on weed
or just hwo vague the hole gateway drug evidence( survery) is
and how you could say the same for alcohol
if you ever took a few college classed they tell you how litte you can count on a survery as empirical evidence
I... I........

No offense, but if you have a good education, why can't you spell?
I'm sorry.... really, I am... but I couldn't help myself.....

but seriously i just think you rob a kid of a social life and independence if you homeschool

I have no problem letting the kid go, I just want them taught, not indoctrinated. Unfortunatly fewer and fewer public schools meet that standard. There are many other ways to allow them to socially interact with their peers.

Ideally everyone would ge one on one teaching. Unfortunately, that's a luxury most can't afford and our society can't generally provide. I'm in favor of a diversity of approaches and the liberty of folks to choose amongst them: when it comes to education, there probably isn't one "right" answer as how best to do it. Homeschooling seems to work well for a lot of parents that can afford to spend the time to do it, and have the aptitude to be serious about it.
I'm of the opposite mind on the "indoctrination" thing though. From what I can see, many sectors of homeschooling contain are unfortunately less about avoiding supposed public school indoctrination and more about making sure a particular desired indoctrination is the only thing allowed. Public school curricula are generally falsely criticized for providing expsoure to a diversity of ideas that some people want to hush up or even mislead their kids about.

You first paragraph is right on. But what I just don't understand is what is wrong with teaching your kids when they are little? Why should I allow my kids to be exposed to stuff that run fudamentally against my core beliefs. Why should I allow the government (public schools) to expose my kids to a "diverse curricula."
