hood question

i am about to purchase a custom built tank i had plans for standard flouros to start off with then decided to get some pc's so the builder said i needed an open crown hood for this type of lighting to attach to i have no idea wat the hell a open crown hood is

if anyone can help out with pictures or explanation would b appreciated thanx

You should have just said "hey ahhh....what the ^%$$## is an open crown hood?"

I assume he's worried about heat buildup and ventilation so the back and top would be open.

A little off subject but pass on the PC all together and go with the VHO's......better lighting IMO or you could also go with T5's as well.........No idea what an open crown is......Just tell your builder to build you the traditional style hood, and you can cut the back open as you need it and install fans as you need or wish......Is your builder actually in the fish hobby?

yes he has designed his own mini reef sump with scientists wich minimises water changes and keeps water at very high quality. back to the lighting sory but wat are vho's and are t5s metal halides relatively new to the marine hobby thanx
