Horshoe Crab

just feed them everthing they'll eat what the fish don't get

only problem is if you have a reef set up w/ DSB, they may kill off all the goods stuff in the DSB

One more problem. If you keep corals there notorious for constantly knocking them over.

While we are on the subject. I just wanted to share something about an experience I had with a horseshoe crab I once had. This is for anyone with Crushed coral as a substrate.
About a month after I received the crab, I was using a syphon to clean the CC. Well, as you know they burrow down in the substrate. I crushed his little back and he died a short time later. I felt so bad.
I will be sooooo glad to get a deep sand bed. I really enjoyed the little guy.
But, if anyone has crushed coral, I would stay away from these creatures.

since people don't go back and look at previous posts, i will continue to comment on this because i hated what happened. they were my fav. thing in my tank! i ordered them from saltwaterfish.com of course. i REALLY wish (and sharks can comment if they'd like) that they would put a big warning on these little guys not doing well in a tank. they can't get enough food and there isn't enough room for them. and i don't have a tiny tank. they will die after a couple months. don't get them!

Couldn't agree more....these are animals that can get HUGE in the wild, over a foot long not including the tail. I made the mistake of buying one without researching it first. Not only will they eat all the fauna in your sandbed or cc, but they also get stuck behind rocks, and when they swim around, it will scare your fish, then when they finish off all the life in the bed, they will die of hunger.

we used to go the beach when i lived in jacksonville and catch them in the water..they are crazy and half the time when they swim they are upsidedown, great to watch, anyway they will eat anything, they are scavengers...every other day or so i drop a piece of squid to the bottom or whatever i happen to have avaliable --jake
