Can you put sand in the bottom of a hospital tank? I was told you can but then if you do when and if you have to treat something in that tank with medication, if you have sand in there the medicine will get all caught up in there. So can I/ Should I or what?
Thanks,
Justin

Don't place sand in your hospital tank. Just throw in some pvc tubes or something similiar for the fish to hide in.

Daniel has the right idea, If you put LS or LR in the hospital tank when you put meds in it you will kill the beneficial bacteria of the LS and LR. You just want to give a fish a place to hide to keep him from stressing too much. I hope this help.

You can put sand in as long as you don't move it to your main tank.
Some fish require a substrate (some wrasses etc) so by not putting any in you could stress the fish even more.
It won't affect the medicine by trapping it.
