"Hostel"....don't believe the hype

I heard today that there was actually 30 minutes edited out of "Hostel" because it originally got a "Rated X". I could tell watching the movie where these 30 minutes belonged because the first 4 people that died, there was very very little shown. if these 30 minutes are included on the dvd, it will be a VERY worthwhile horror flick. without more gruesome detail though, it's not good.

I went and saw Hostel on Sunday.
I think Pointus is too stone cold tough to realize this movie would scare and cause queasy feelings for most movie-goers. I agree it wasn't an insanely scary fright flick for me, but I don't scare easy. The movie overdid --- and pot, holding on to those scenes way too long. Still, I enjoyed the movie immensely. Too many horror movies play up the helpless, make-all-the-wrong-decisions, victim. This movie showed a victim getting back at them. The end scenes had the whole theater throwing fists in to the air and cheering on the last surviving torture victims. Especially the drive by scene.
Also, the gore in this movie was very well done. Seeing puss squirt from a fire branded eye socket will make anyone cringe at the very least. Everyone who left the theater seemed very pleased and all of the girls were clutching their mans arm tightly. My date still brings up how grossed out she was seeing a mans head getting caved in with a rock.

Not to change the topic here. But what you guys think as the most gory movie ever?
For me, it's Dawn of the dead, of course there are strange things in that movie that doesnt make sense, you have a gun store right accross the mall ?

Next is starship trooper, especially that scene where the big brain bug sucked on the guy's brain, i was like ..... so just imagine having a mantis shrimp as big as a semi truck, that will be scary.
anyway, what you guys think?

You don't know gore until you've seen the climax of Dead Alive. Dawn of the Dead and starship troopers don't even compare. At the end he uses a lawnmower to chop a few hundred zombies to pieces. He is waist deep in guts and body parts by the end.

I can tell you that there are 5 innocent tourists that are kidnapped in the movie and 14 people end up dead. other than that, I wouldn't want to spoil it for you.
