Household cleansers = tank pollution?

I've been doing a long overdue job of cleaning today and also am due for a water change in my tank. I'm sitting here thinking "Gee, traces of PineSol on my hands is probably not a good thing" I've also seen references to Windex being dangerous to your tank inhabitants. Can someone tell me how far the precautions should go. For instance, if I mop the floor around the tank with PineSol do I have to worry about that nice smell in the air becoming a problem in my tank? And spraying Windex to clean the glass also not good?
If there's a loophole here that states I never have to clean the house again, that would be cool too :hilarious

lol..pinesol on the floor is OK..don't put your hands in the tank with any residual cleaning agent on them. Spray windex on a cloth in a seperate room and then clean the glass.
HTH :D

moping wont hurt unless pinesol water gets in your tank,
windex is evil, wash your tank glass with water, alot safer.
do you ahve a skimmer? anything in the aire (windex, airbown pinesol, launry soap bubbles etc) can egt easily mixed into your water by your skimmer, make alittle air "filter" get 2" PVC, cut out a 5-10 inch long pipe or so (what ever will fit were you can have it) take a 2 " PVC cap, cut a 1/4 in (or whater size your skimmer air intake tube is) and drill it, cap the PVC pipe, then add "filter floss" or cottonballs(anythign to make sure the media dosent fall out and into the tube) then add an inch or 2 of active carbon (or if you have carbon breathign masks you can use that) then ree cover with floss
sounds complicated but its not. ... i'll paint you a pic,.

Interesting....So I'm putting this whole extra filter on top of my air intake for my skimmer, is that what you're saying?

yeha its really easy, i mad emine in 4 minutes, i had everything i needed though, you cna use any size OVC pipe if it needs to be smaller or bigger, and carbon lasts forever filtering air.

Want to bump this up to hear whether other people do this extra filter thing?
Also, what about air fresheners? I'm thinking anything which is an aerosol is a bad idea? The problem is, I've also got 3 dogs, so getting a "nice" smell in my house can be a real challenge!!!

yeah i woudl recomend the air filter, its very easy, and effecient, it dosent effect the amount of air coming in at all, but it does help stop it, after a munth of me runing it, i can see the cloth getting a light creamy coffee color,
i agree 5 dogs dont smell good, lol
