Houston, We Have A Situation Here.

My antennata lionfish hasn't been doing well lately. Today I came home to find him missing an antenna (!) with one eye swollen, puffy, and clouded, and his color faded. He hasn't been very active lately and refuses to eat even live foods. I have been unsuccessful in trying to make the transition to other foods; he will only eat feeders but recently, (in the last four days) he has eaten nothing. I turn my (NO - "stock lighting") lights on at 7am and turn them off at about 7 or 8pm usually. Today turned them off around 3pm when I came home and noticed that he was in such bad shape. I was in the middle of mixing some emergency change water when my sister rushed into my room and stepped on my thermometer/hydrometer, breaking it all over my rug. Unfortunately, the only reliable way for me to read my salinity.
My water parameters:
Ammonia: less than .25 --hard to tell but it says "safe" on the bottle
Nitrate: 20 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Alkalinity: 300
pH: 8.4
Temp: 78 F
That's about all I can tell ya. I would really appreciate any and all feedback on this. The picture below shows the affected eye. Any suggestions for feeding, lighting, similar situations, medicines I should give to treat this would be amazing. Thanks in advance everyone.

How long have you had this fish?
What has he been eating?
Is this affliction only in one eye?
What else is in the tank with him?

I have had him for about 2 weeks. He has been eating freshwater feeders -I know! I know! pretty much the worst as far as nutrition goes, I haven't been able to get my hands on any ghost shrimp and he simply won't go for frozen anything. I have tried brine, silversides, moving on a feeder stick, moving attached to a string and I have simply flung them in the powerhead current ...he just won't go for it. Yes, the affliction is only in the left eye and there is nothing else in the tank with him.
Oh yeah, other useful info:
20 gal tank, 20# LS, 17# LR

Could be from poor nutrition. Not only are freshwater feeders not good for him, but they are detrimental to him. What kind of feeders were they?

Rosy reds, and a couple small tetras I think. I have been searching high and low for something more nutritionally adequate with no luck. No one seems to carry any really good live foods. Any suggestions as to where I might pick up some ghost shrimp?
