Make two fists and combine them, than go to ur neighbores, ask them to do the same and combine them, than do that ten more times... Actually, i'm going to try that.
18 inches i think

i know...i know....before you make fun of my ignorance......please allow me to explain......they usually get 15" in the wild...or even more than 25" for some species like D. hystrix......but under normal captive conditions (i.e. not much room to swim around and overstocking), they do not get as big as they're supposed to be.......i've seen many gargantuan porkies in huge aquariums......including puiblic ones.......but the biggest one kept by ordinary aquarists that I've ever seen so far was around 6-7". This is why one's tank should be as large as possible to promote their optimal growth. but, unfortunately, this is not the case........for most people....just wanted to clarify my point!

I remember seeing a couple at the Long Beach Aquairum (Aquarium of the Pacific) on the behind the scenes tour that looked like they were the size of large sea turtles. They were almost freakish. I commented on how large they were and the tour guide said they were actually known across the nation for the size of those puffers.

Moral of the story is they get big, inside and outside of the aquarium. Saltwaterfish do not adapt to size by their surroundings as freshwater do. Ur puffer fish will get HUGE in ur aquarium as it grows, not saying it grows as fast in ur tank as the wild but it will grow and lots of people get rid of them cuz they can't afford these gsy.

I totally agree......i believe that people should provide their fishes with a plenty of swimming space. I have a map puffer, and they're known to get more than 30" in the wild. i'm afraid 180 might not be big enough for him. that's why i'm planning on getting a large custom tank.....probably more than 300 gallon capacity. also don't worry.....i'm not one of those irresponsible people who abandon their fishes because they're getting big.
