How big do they get?

I,m stocking my 75 gal. tank a little at a time so the system keeps up with the load. The books I have read give a general rule of inchs of fish to the gal. of water. They give maximum size of fish also. But is this what they grow to in the wild or in an aquarium? I'm just not sure. Thanks for the input.

THE BOOK I HAVE TELLS THE SIZE THEY GROW TO IN THE WILD AND THE SIZE THEY GROW TO IN AN AQUARIUM. IT APPEARS THAT MOST FISH ONLY GROW TO APPROX. 2/3 AS LONG IN AN AQUARIUM AS THEY WOULD IN THE WILD.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that was the case but wasn't sure. It gets to expensive to guess.
