I have a 55 saly tank with lots of live rock and a sand bottom, I don"t have any coral yet, but later on I will. There are 10 various crabs, a choc chip star, a conch, and a sea cuck, I have a yellow tail damsel and a percula clown for fish and I would like to add more.I was just ordering some stuff and I noticed in the catalague in the live animal section Blue Green Reef Chromis offered at a reasonable price, I would like to know some info on Chromis, will they hold there own(community fish?),eat inverts, coral etc.I await your reply...... I don't think you can go wrong with these. Most like to keep them in odd numbers so they will school. Looks cool. Nice little reef-safe, well behaved fish. :)

Its better to keep more then 1 and 2 of them. You should buy 3 i think... Reef safe and a peaceful fish

The Chromis Viridis, or Green Chromis is a shoaling fish. So 4 or 5 should make both, FO and Reef tanks very stunning. They are also hardy and, unlike other damsels, very peaceful. They also accept most foods like flake brine, etc. Having 3 is also good.
Good Luck with whatever you choose.:D

I heard that they shouldnt be kept in numbers of 2 or 4. You can keep 3-5 or more... Dont know if its true BTW

would 5 fit comfortably in a 30 gallon sharing it with 2 false percs and later when fully established a cherub angel?? just wondering probably not. i am guessing that would be overstocking.

I have 5 green chromis in a 55, they dont really ever leave half the tank... Although once in a while they will wander. You might be okay if you dont add any other fish other than the clown.

The Blue Green Reef Chromis, sometimes called the Blue-Green Reeffish or Blue Green Chromis, is found in schools throughout the Indo-Pacific reefs and in the Red Sea.
It is a very hardy fish found in a variety of tanks. It is commonly kept long term, in small schools, and used by beginners to learn the hobby. It may also be included in larger schools in show tanks. It is also one of the fish often selected as a tank-cycling fish. It is a peaceful fish, and adds a dramatic effect to the tank. The Blue Green Reef Chromis will live from 8-15 years in an aquarium in water of good quality.
The diet should be varied and consist of meaty items, herbivore flakes, and frozen preparations. Using vitamin-enriched foods may help to preserve the bright color.
