how danger is bristle worm

i was told bristle worm is danger to reef tank and also was told is not. So which is true?

As long as there arent tons of them they are fine.

most of them are harmless detritivores there are a few rare exceptions.

They eat extra food and crap that is in tight spots as long as they dont get out of control they are fine, I like to call them part of my clean up crew..

Had a couple huge ones and wreaked havoc on my tank ( a 2 footer and 1 1/2 foot). They were on opposite sides of the tank. It was horrible.
