Can't really say without the exact measurements of your display....but below is a formula for figuring how much sand is needed for a specific depth of sand bed.Maybe it'll help you figure how much you'll need...*_^
length x width x desired depth of sand bed x .0579 = lbs sand needed
(measurements are all i inches)
Hope that helps ya a lil!

According to that formula, a 4" sand bed would require 500 lbs. of sand. Remember that some sand grades are finer than others, and therefor will take up different amounts of room.

You said your tank is 6'x2 1/2'....then here is the math....
60 inches x 30 inchesx6(desired depth of DSB)x.0579=625.32 lbs of sand for 6" deep sand bed

Hey WinGNut
Are you sure about the 6 x 2-1/2 foot dimensions ?
That's 72"L x 30"W
For a 125 gallon tank, that would mean you'd have a 13 inch height ?
Sounds funky ?
I see where All-Glass make their dual overflow 125 with dimensions of 72"L x 18"W x 22"H
Maybe that 2-1/2 foot should be 1-1/2 foot width ?
Got an extra foot possibly :p ?
