How did everybody get their fish tanks moved to theirs homes? I am looking to purchase a 90 to 125 gallon fish tank and can't figure out what I need to haul it. Will it fit in my Geo Metro
just kidding. I am looking into renting a Ford excursion or a large SUV with fold down seats. Or do you think I need a conversion van. Please supply your input. Thanks. I will be hauling the fish tank, stand, rock, and sand. Thanks for your help..........

Hmmm let's see, my RSM nano travelled in my SUV, so did our 50 and 75g tanks. 135g tank came on a trailor and 150g tank was brought in by our LFS on a pickup. Depends on the length of the tank. If you are getting a short 125, the length will fit in an SUV, but the height is probably too high.

LOL, i have a friend with a little Ford Ranger pick-up truck. I believe that will be to small. But he is a PT guy where I work so the muscle department is covered.

I don't think a truck will work. Enterprise says that their Ford F-150's only have a 6 foot bed.

I did an entire 120 with stand and canopy in my Nissan Frontier. A ford ranger will be fine.
So I Ford F-150 should be fine then if you did it with a frontier. How big is your bed in the Nissian Frontier? Did u have to tie it down?

It should be tied down no matter what. Btw have you asked your LFS if they can deliver it to you? I've noticed that almost all of the LFS owners where I live all have somebody that works for them with a pickup if they do not have one themselves already. Plus if they deliver its "on them". If they decide to hit a pot hole and the tank in the back goes CRASH
they are the ones responsible and they will get you a new one. If you are taking it home and hit the pot hole and the tank shatters then your screwed.
Asking is the best thing you can do.

Oh and what are the possible dimensions of the tanks you have been looking at? nothing wrong with bringing a tape measure into the lfs.

Our 240gal/125gal fit in our Suburban pretty easily.
Our 90gal when I didn't have it, and only had my Caddy, a different story,

My LFS delivered my 150gal and stand for a small fee. I calculated it and if I was to rent a pickup, plus counting in my time, it was just cheaper to have the LFS deliver it, carry it and set it where I wanted it.

Now that was probably a site to see...a caddy with a fish tank hanging out of the back

My LFS wants $500 for a 75g with stand. I am looking on craiglist and found alot of fish tanks (90-125g) with stand, sand and live rock for about $300 to $500. I am going to get it from craiglist that is why I am trying to figure out what I need to haul it. I am not worried about cracks because I have foam and alot of blankets for transport.

The bed is 4x6 ft. Yes everything was tied down and the stand rode on the tailgate.

UHAUL , local trucks are cheap, and you wont have to think at all about fitting in the truck, your front door on the other hand.........
