How do I control purple algae???

I have a 75 gallon tank that's been setup for about 8 months. Right around month 6 I started to get some purple stuff on my live rock & live sand. I got some more snails to help control it. It's just gotten worse over time and now it's all over the tank (filters, glass, power heads). Can you give me any advice on how to control it???
Here's my livestock:
  • 1 Foxface LO
  • 1 Copperband butterfly
  • 1 Keyhole Angel
  • 1 Longhorn Cowfish
  • 1 Watchman Goby
  • 2 Damsels
    2 Clowns
    My inverts are:Several turbo snails
    Several Mexican Red Leg crabs
    1 Hermit crab
    2 Cleaner shrimp
    Lawnmower Blenny
I recently started adding a few corals. I have a couple of the basic beginner corals so I've been adding Calcium, Strontium, & Iodine. I have also been adding 1 capful of Kent Marine PhytoPlex each week.
Thanks!

do you have a picture. it it hard, or slimmy. if its hard, then you want it. its coraline algae. its its slimmy, and will come off when you touch it, then its prob red slime.

Couple questions off the bat. Is it soft or hard to touch? Soft=bad, hard=good. Also, are you testing for Calcium, Strontium and Iodine?
Also, 10 fish in 8 months is quite a bit since 2 months was cycling.
One more thing...a LMB is a fish, not an invert.

Yeah, I realize that I added all of the fish kind of fast. They seem to get along just fine. I didn't touch it yet, but it looks like it has hair coming off of it that floats in the water. Here are a couple of pictures.
