Well I run it 24/7 with no porobs yet. However I have been told it kills trace elements. Iv also been told to run it like 2-3 days every month.

Your UV filter should make your water crystal clear, but I agree with Sammy that it is best not to use it for reef applications. A diatom fiter will make your water very clear, however I would think that it would strip the water of alot of usefull stuff as well. Mabee someone elaborate more on a ditom filter. Another thing that comes to mind is that the tank in the petstore is most likely a primo acrilic tank. Glass tanks have somewhat of a greenish hue where acrillic have more of a blue hue. I wouldnt sugest that you switch to acrilic over glass. Once you get a nice health scratch in acrilic you will be kicking yourself. Lighting also plays a big role in how the water looks. I definitly second the idea of running some carbon. ;)

have you considered that you may be over feeding your fish?
You mentioned that you have noticeable fish droppings in your tank. 2 things I would strongly consider if I was you is cutting baack on feeding. And the size of your cleanup crew. If the leftover food and detritus are simply accumulating in your tank, they will of course become suspended in the water.
I feed my fish once per week, and have never lost a fish to anything beside my leaving the strainer off of my intakes ! See my signature below.

I run Chemi-Pure 24/7. I bought a bottle of Kent Trace Elements to replace anything the carbon strips out. I can't believe how clear my water has been since I added the Chemi-Pure...best $10 investment ever :D
