If it's on the bulb, unplug the unit and wait for the bulb to cool off completely. Unscrew the bulb, and wipe it down with a soft cloth dipped in r/o or distilled water until all the salt creep is gone. Let it dry completely and screw it back in. If you use tap water on the bulb, the water will leave deposits which can create hotspots and burn out the bulb. Also, when handling the bulb, never touch it with your fingers. The grease from your hands can also create hotspots.
