Good tips good tips

Looks like a trip to HD will be in my future. After all, he was my first fish, I would like to keep him around.
He hasn't died from the ich, he is one tough lil guy.
I cycled my tanks on the LR for a month before adding him, I am trying to practice patience as best I can.

Search for Garlic on this forum - Ask Beth - She always has a good answer for illnesses and issues with fish.
the reason it takes so long is because you aren't interrupting the ich life cycle with medication so you'll have some of the parasites survive within your LR and LS for a very long time.
I think I still have the book I read it in - I just haven't been reading fish books for a while.

When you get a chance, if you would post that book. I'd like to take a look at it. As I understand it, the normal complete life cycle of marine ich is about 30 days.
You don't need medicine to interupt the life cycle in a fish-less tank as part of the life cycle of ich requires fish... take the fish out and the cycle can't complete.

I'm sure I'll get a lot of hate mail from the people who think no animal should ever be harmed, but I didn't build this tank to support ONE lil damsel.
The tank needs emptied of all fish, so that it can sit for six weeks to rid it of ick. I have a QT ready for him, but I cannot catch him. I have a reef tank, so I feel I am out of options.
Since I have exhausted ALL efforts to remove him. How do I kill him? Without harming the inverts of course.

It's no use, the cost of victory is way to high. You must pull out ... er redeploy, then perhaps you can reason with it.

I'd catch him with a hand line.. I'd put on 1lb test fluorocarbon line or the lightest you can get (fluorocarbon is "virtually" invisible under water) with a #3 or #4 gold hook. Don't feed your fish for a few days and then chum him up with tiny bits of shrimp. When he's least expecting it, put the same amount of shirmp on your hook and you are good to go.
