How do i make my sand bed deeper?

Rignt now in my FO tank i have a sand bed that is 1.5-2 inches and i want to increase that up to 4 inches. Can i do this withough having to start over? and if so then how do i go about adding the sand?

What I did was a long process but it worked and there was almost no clouding at all. I put some sand in a large ziploc bad and slowly took it to the bottom of the tank. Then opened the bag and slowly poured the sand out. I know it may take a while, but it works.

I just got a really big cup (32 or 44oz). Scooped it in, got it as close to the bottom as possible and slowly poured it out. I had no problem with clouding. I'm sure the ziplock bag will work just as well, if you would rather do it that way.

when adding sand, if you add it to the visible low spots will it eventually work its way through the aquarium to have a pretty uniform depth

i just added about 2" of ls to my 2 - 2 1/2" ls bed and used the "baggie" method mentioned above.......worked great. As far as a uniform depth throughout the tank, it's futile to even try....my engineer goby and diamond goby prefer to do the landscaping (sandscaping)and I guess they are never content with their creation 'cause they change it constantly! <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

i am going to take a piece of pvc pipe and a funnel at the top and put the pvc right at the bottom and pour it in at the funnel
