How do set up a mini tank for inverts?

I am setting up a 20 gallon high and want to put mostly little inverts in it so is there anything special I need to do like particular lighting or anything? Thanks

That's good. Will the live rock thrive with just one bulb, can I continue using my 15watt or do I need to upgrade? Do the inverts need a calcium supplement

Many inverts are very sensitive and keeping them in a smaller tank can be an issue. ALL parameters including calcium must be kept in check but never add a calcium supplement without testing for it, alkalinity and pH.

Well, if I have a lot of live rock, good aeration, a protein skimmer and cheato without any fish to speak of, just the little hermit crab, shrimp and snails will that help keep the parameters met? Is there a good invert book I could read?

Water changes are the best way to do this. Even if you have all of those things, you will need to do water changes in particular to keep alkalinity in line. At least IMO, that is the best way to do it.
There is a book on Marine Invertebrates written by ron shimek.

Hmm, I was thinking inverts would be easier than fish since they are smaller and I assumed produce less waste, maybe not. I will check out that book and start slow with the inverts. Figure first will just be some blue legged hermits.
What do you think are the hardiest inverts for me to have as I'm just starting?
