You'll get tired of the same monotonous motion of a hand pump; it gets old. Once you can go hands free with a pump, you will never go back, although sometimes it's just easier to get it going by sucking. You just have to get used to the taste of saltwater.

I just curl the hose up, put it all under the water and get the air out. Then put my finger over the end while holding the other under water bring the end out to the bucket and let go. Water starts right away running out.

this is the way I do it with out any problems no need to get the water in your mouth at all.
