The corals will eat light. what lighting do you have? i know some of the shrooms will eat plankton(marine snow, DT's live photo plankton). you just place the right amount into the tank. no shrimp nessesary.

I can explain it better if you want me to. Ok. the shrooms will eat plankton and light. I use marine snow and DT's photo plankton. you just put the proper ammount in the tank and they should eat it, but remember to turn off the skimmer wile adding these things. the polyps, you feed the same thing. there mouth is in the middle of there body. for the shrooms, its in the very middle, same for the polyps. if you didnt feed the corals(that includes light) they would die. No need for any sort of shrimp. Why did you want someones elses answer insted of mine? did you think mine wasnt good enough?

Kent has some decent products on the market for feeding Polyps,corals,etc...I use the additives,Iodine etc..and I use Coral-Vite, Micro-vert, and there are many others, these Usually are excessible at the LFS, and here at SWF..PS..They are cheaper here than I have EVER paid for them locally, and thats including shipping..
The best method I have found is "Target" feeding..I fill a syringe with a little tank water, and put the recommended dose of the Filter Feeder Food in a cup, draw it up, and GENTLY blow over the items you are chosing to feed...This is one of the best methods that I have found...
GL to you..`Susie

OH, and forgot to mention that LIGHT is not good for all types of Coral...Let me rephrase....Some of your corals, need to be lower in the tank, than others do, sometimes too much light will cause bleaching, and severe damage,,If you purchase online, the sites usually tell you..if your confused or have any ?? about lighting VS coral/polyp location...Just ask... :D

so what additives do you kneed to add to the tank to feed the corals, polyps, etc. And when you feed them, you place it in front of a strong current facing the corals? Thanks!

The way I feed my corals is with a 5 ml syringe. I suck up brine and/or mysid shrimp then gently put some in their feeder tenticals. This works for the ones with larger mouths. I even feed my hairy mushroom a couple of times a week. My other shrooms though I just leave alone.
It is a good idea to feed a phytoplankton as the other corals that are filter feeders and the pods will benifit from it. I don't feed specifically for Zooplankton (marine snow) because I figure there is plenty of that in the brine shrimp juice. BTW it is helpful to soak food in selcon or something similar.
I feed about 5-7 times a week. If you feed heavy make sure that your system can handle the nutrients.
Hope it helps

To get back to additives...
I use Kent...Micro Vert..(Filter Feeder Food).Read Directions on all of these and it will explain how often etc..
Chromaplex (Filter Feeder Food)
Coral-Vite...Trace Minerals
Phytoplex...Concentrated Aquacultured Marine Photoplankton
Liqid Calcium
Iodine
Strontium and Molybdenum..Say THAT 10 times :)
Essential Elements
Hope that helps... :)
