Ok i have a lot of this red macro algae in my tank and i want to get rid of it. I dont like the way that it looks. Is there anything that eats it.

hmmmm I believe certain types of crabs would love that. How big is that tank? A tang would eat it as well but the tank looks to small. I think your best bet would be to remove the rock and scrub it off and then rinse it throughly.

i know a tang would eat it, but the tank is only a 24 gal. Do you think i could put a tang in there for just a short period? Would a emerald crab eat the macro. Because i really dont want to take out all the rock when i have all the live stock in there.

A tang wouldn't be worth it. The effort to get him back out would be alot more. I suppose you could cover it with another rock so it doesn't get any light.

I know tangs eat it. I put the star polyp in with them because it was dieing of no light. I did put a emerald crab in there too, but alls I saw him take a little of of the macro. Now when I was riping it off the rock I notice that the xenia was not attached to the rock but attached to the algae for some reason. I tryed to get them to stick to the rock again, but then a couple weeks later its pretty much all dead now.
I was wondering if I could clean off by scraping the rock and then put it in my tank with the tangs or something so they could eat it all off.
