How do you move from 46g to 90g?

I am wondering how to move my current set-up of 46 gallon to a 90 gallon. I guess the real question is. What do I do with my fish? I know that I could just use the sand, LR and water and transfer it into my 90 and top it off. How long do I let it cycle? And what do I do with my fish? Look for someone to hold on to them? Could they possibly be safe with half of the water being uncycled? Anybody that know's, I would appreciate the help before I jump to deep into this one. Thanks, Eric

Iv been told to treat a tank upgrade as a 'new' tank.
Since your new tank is bigger, your going to need more sand anyway.
Presumably, the new tank has its own new filter yes?
Id try and run both side by side. Let the new one cycle, and very slowly transfer water from old to new, and adding new water to the old one as per a normal water change.
Once the new tank has cycled with it 'new' materials, Im guessing it would be okay to bag/box your fish, transfer the rock and sand, give it a few hours to settle. Then run all your tests and make sure everything is okay. Then you will probably want to drip your livestock into the new tank.
Just be amazingly careful, dont need any floating fish.
Anyone else wana say something. I probably messed up a few details. LOL
