How do you pick a good piece of LR

When picking a piece of LR I try to look at my tank and think of the perfect shape for a certain spot. Then I go down and sift through all the rock looking for the piece that best matches the picture in my head.

Hey, have any of you tried that site that will email you a picture of the rock you order? They also let you get any amount. It sounds good..but who knows.. I think I may order from 2 places and see..but I do like the picture idea.
Anyone have suggestions on the different kinds of LR I can use to really give my tank some character? I am a total Newbie to this.

you could get different types of rock. like a little bit of tonga, some fiji, etc
