other than a sump filled with macroalgea/water change/clams/chemical, is there any other way to remove nitrate?

Dont know about once a day, I guess you could. If you change the water that often make sure it is good water and the temp matches tanks, and salinity/SG is accurate and water and salt are thoroughly mixed. You could really stress the fish and stuff out changing it so much! JMO

12 gal, trate around 5-15 mmp last time i checked. did a water change day before yesterday, but my yellow watchman DoA and i still put it in my tank after acclimation, cleanup crew had a feast.
and i just added a bunch of stuffs in the last 2 days, my LFS told me i am not rushing/over stocking. less than 0.25 mg/l ammonia and 0 nitrite, nutrafin test kit shows around 0 nitrate but salifert show around 10ish mmp nitrate

That much trate is OK, I would be more concerned about the Ammonia, that is mor harmful than the trates....... How long have you had your tank set up?

i have a LTA in it... it looks healthy right now, but i dont want it get somekind long term damage by high trates.
will xenia filter out nitrate? how about clams (derasa/maxima, im gonna get a bunch of them)

I read somewhere that xenia help with trates. Still trates at that level are way safer than the AMMONIA. If you are looking into clams you have to have excellent lighting, But I dont think they help much with trates!!!!

150w 14000k MH on a 12 gal... hve to top off with RO twice every day to maintance the chemstry.. but my LFS told me if i have LOT clams, they will take away most ammonia and trate o_O 1.5 inch maxima/derasa 12 dollar each, so i guess i can fill my tank with a bunch of them because LFS told me they 'dont count as bioload' and i will have a bigger tank later this year

Like I said I have never heard that about clams, If it were me I would do more research about the clams consuming the trates as they stated!

You shouldnt be testing any ammonia. If ammonia is higher then 0 something is wrong, it could be from adding the dead yellow watchman. Especially with a 12 gal tank your not going to want to put a dead fish in there to feed with, also you said you added a bunch of things in the last two days. Once again especially with a tank that small you are not going to want to rush things. If your adding more then one fish to the tank it should be at least 2 weeks apart. If by a bunch of things you mean corals then you should be fine.

On this site the refugium clams take up trates. They are about 2 inches long. They don't sit out in the light. They are filter feeders. But you do have enough light for a clam.

some plants and nitrate sponges will take out nitrates. it is the final step in the ammonia/nitrite cycle. not **dangerous** to have but not uncommon.

ummmmmmmmmmm wellllll you basically listed everything that will reduce nitrates ....
Do you expect to be able to pray for your nitrates to go down??
Wish in one hand and crap in the other......
Just do your maintnence and keep up on your tank and you wont have a problem ...
why have we become so friggin lazy in this hobby.
