how do your rock to change colors?

how do you get your rock to change to diffrent colors as that pretty purple i see people have in there tanks and how long do i have to wait also what do i need to do to get it like that? i think that color brings out the tank even more.

i will take a wile to get that purple on your lr. you do need to add calcium to your tank as well. get a test kit for calcium and try to get your cal. levels up to 450 ppm. once at that level in a few months you will begin to see small patches of it start to grow on your lr.

The color starts as purple,and it turns to pink.
The purple spreads very slow,but once it turns
pink,it seems to spread faster.It is just like
everything else,it just takes time,i would say
that within 6 to 9 months,you should start to
see quite a bit.There's probably some chemical
to enhance the process,but i don't think that
chemicals are a good thing.

i recommend that you test your alkalinity, and keep it between 8-14 dkh. lots of circulation seems to help also. you need some sort of coralline seed though. either some lr or something like garf grunge. that will get the whole process started nicely. hth
