How easy are mushrooms?

pretty much, bottom to mid, where ever they look good, maybe even top, but that where most of your current will be, so bottom would be fine considering there arent many coral that can live on the bottom of the tank. mushrooms are great for this purpose.

I dont have a lot of advise, my shrooms for the most part do just fine on there own, but I do dose a couple drops of iodine into the tank once a week, but no more, since i havnt gotten around to getting an iodine test kit, i dont want to overdose them.
Heres a couple shots, this first one is of my ugliest (ugly to me anyway) shrooms, and as you can see, one of them doesnt look right, but keeps hanging in there so I leave it alone
And one of my prettier shrooms:
Prettier shrooms
Sorry, had to link them as I've not set it up for my site at iphotohost to allow hotlinking of images to saltwaterfish.com yet.Uglier Shroom
My shrooms do equally well whether they are placed up high in the tank or on the bottom. The brown ones are down at the bottom of the tank and the bluish green ones are at the top of the tank, and this is with simple lighting, 55w 10k light, 65w 03 actinic light, 27w 6800k

i just got about 6 polyps of these cool green striped mushrooms at my LFS for 24.99 - they were in a nano tank section and were in the back. They were a good find!
For my 1st coral I want to make sure I do everything right. Anyone else with feeding advice? This is my only concern - i know i have adequate lighting and great water parameters.
Should I spot feed?

there is no need to spot feed mushrooms, just add the neccessary food chemicals (phyto, and other stuff). spot feeding shrooms is a wste of time. congrats on your first corals. shrooms own. good luck. btw can you post a pic of the frag? thanks

I would not add anything as far as food chemicals. Mushrooms will do just fine with what they grab when you feed your fish. The more additives you put in your tank the more food you put in for algae blooms an decreased water quality. Mushrooms are pretty hard to kill.

Here is a picture of the new mushrooms. This cam only has auto focus, so it is hard to get a good pic. They are much greener in real life.
I'm posting full tank shots seperately in the reef forum!

Hey, that looks just like my old anemone crab, minus the anemone! Too aggressive for my tank now, so I took him to a friend.

that is simply a hermit crab - i have 2 im my tank that wont stop growing! pretty soon they are going to have to go to someone else - they really demolish algae and detritus!
