How far have you moved your tank?

I was just wondering how far someone has moved their saltwater tank (how many hours of driving), and if they lost anything in the process.
I may be moving in a few months, and it would be close to a 9-hour drive, as well as being in the middle of winter. I'm just trying to decide if it would be worth it to try moving my tank, or just selling all my fish/corals and try starting over.

Moved my tank 15 minutes from office to home. Lost 3 fish (bad planning on my part) and my Xenia. I didn't have a lot of corals though. Just a few sponges and a toadstool.
What size tank?
My biggest issue was moving all of my sand... 700Lbs of sand took me approx 22 hours to move.... that was a killer.
Without the DSB moving the tank would have been much simpler and definitely more doable.

I used to show fish. I have driven up to 3 hours, set up a bare 20 gallon, left them in it for 3 days, then brought them home.
Most of the stuff in your tank travelled at least 24 hours after it was collected, followed by another long flight to the state where you got it. Just get some coolers and battery powered air pumps. You can get the pumps at places that sell bait or fishing stuff.

I moved 1.5 hours. We lost 1 fish, but that was not due to the move. That was due to not being able to set it up that night (due to something leaking) and having to leave the fish in the trashcans overnight - or at least I think that's why.
Good Luck.

I move a 75 gallon fish only at the time from Ga to Fl an 8 hour drive with no fish loss. i used 5 gallon buckets with lids and used battery powered air pumps.

I have moved many tanks. I got one that was 9 hours away and everything made it just fine. Just make sure they get alot of air. You really dont need them in much water just put lots of air in there. The splashing around of bumps and stoping will keep the water/air mixed up. Just make sure that the temp does not change more than 15 up or down and you will be just fine. Good Luck!!!! :jumping:
