how fast can purple monti grow?

Pic 2 and 3 are Monitpora Peltiformis(encrusting)
Pic 1 looks to be a Montipora Verrucosa or maybe Tuberculosa(both are encrusting).
Care will be the same for all, and that has been covered.
In my experience the Capricornis will grow fastest, then digitata, encrusting is the slowest.

At least in my tank, the encrusting Monti's are alot slower to grow. My Caps grow at least 1/4 to 1/2" a month, the encrusting(haven't been in the tank quite as long, at least a 8mo to a yr), they may have grown 1/4 to 1/2". I'd put it next to some rock if you want it to spread, it grows at the edges, so don't wedge it in real hard(damaging edges), it will grow and get bigger on it's own too(does build a skeleton). Once you got them growing, especially the caps, they should take off and be pretty easy to care for. Hope this is a little helpful. I don't usually work, but today I am, so I'll check it out tonight to see if you have any more questions.

thank you ...i have 3 kids too 4 turning 5 in dec, 3 and 1 .2 boys and a baby girl . i didn't work much this year too.anyway i notice a colt slime got to one of my monti and i think it damages it ..will that kills my monti?

Yes, mine are 2.5,4.5,and 6 now, and I stay at home with them, my wife pays our way for now, I help a friend of mine on the side some times when I can find some time away from the kids. It is hard to say about the slime, I have some Xenia that touches a Green Cap and both are fine. I will say that a lot of things will kill the Monti's if stung too badly. I have lost a few frags and broken peices from the Caps from touching Zoos,mushrooms,hydnaphora,pectina,brains,etc., so I guess It is really hard to say Yes or No. The only other leather I have is a small Kenya Tree and that touches nothing. It used to be really big with a lot of stalks, some of it melted away(I didn't mind too much, just wondered why all of the sudden, the little part left behind is doing fine now). If it looks damaged, it is usually best to break off the damaged area, so it doesn't spread(it can, so if it looks bad, maybe give it a day or so to make sure, then remove damaged area). I have found that most, of my corals at least, will grow new growth faster than regrowing on a death area, if that makes sense to you. Good luck

Is that a "vette" emblem? I live near Carlisle, PA. They have one of the largest Corvette shows in the country, it is going on this weekend. I saw the coolest one today while driving. It was like a 50's style, but very new looking(modern). I'm not a big fan, but that one really looked mean. I tend to like the bigger bodied muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. Just thought it was really neat, and had to pass on.

I put my stuff in right away, I just put at the bottom, for a week or two, then start moving around to find a spot it likes. I only use 175wt MH(s) for now, if that matters, plus 4 VHO's. If you can put them on the bottom safely, meaning not going to get stung or messed with, put them there for 1 to 2 weeks first, if there isn't any room on the bottom, just put them where you think will be the spot and shade if you have to with eggcrate and nylon screening, works well to break up the light a little, may have to use more than one layer of the screen to block enough light if you decide to something like that. Hope this is helpful to you. Aren't you lucky for having such a bad car. It would be nice, I'm really a motorcycle guy(dirtbikes and sportbikes).

What size tank and what wattage of MH do you run? If the frags are coming from a less intense light source, give them more time to adjust, if it is about the same, then shouldn't have to be as cautious, but still give it some time or a little shade for a bit. It is hard to say, at least for me, 1 week or 2 or 3, I guess I try to be in tune, so to speak, with corals, and they sort of let me know when it is time to move them around if needed(strange sounding). Really I'm going to get off of here this time. Later.
