how hot is too hot

for a typical reef tank, with fairly common corals, inverts, fishes, etc., how hot is too hot for the water temp? The last couple of weeks have been pretty warm around here (85+ with 80+% humidity), and with a little work, I can keep the temp from going much over 82 degrees or so. But I was wondering... when should I really start to be concerned? Normally I keep it as close to 78 as possible, but during the summer, it seems to hover right around 80.

I believe it is recommended to keep a tank between 72 and 80.
I think 82 would be fine though.
My roommate who is very good with reef tanks keeps his around 82 with no problems.
I read in another post that on reef flats in swallow water the temp can get up to 90+
