Maybe you shouldn't be patting yourself on the back so much for getting this fish. By taking him from the lfs you deprived it of having an opportunity to be placed into an appropriate sized tank where it could have a healthy, full life.
But whitey, aren't you being a little hippocritical? You're flaming a 9 year old for having a 3" puffer in a 30 gallon tank (12" wide). Don't you have a 12" puffer in a 125 gallon (18" wide)? At least this kid is young and has an excuse. His fish actually has more room in his tank than yours does. You're not being any more responsible than him... and he's only 9 and at least talking about upgrading. Think about it... :notsure:
Is this just another example of a "do as I say, not as I do" attitude?

A 30 gallon is really small for a puffer, and puffers in any size tank need great filtration because they are messy feeders. Research is the key in this hobby, try it!. Good luck, dont mean do be nasty but i'd rather have a happy, living fish.

Yeah Crimzy, you're right.
Take a shot at me, for stating facts.
Truth is, my Puffer is about 9 inches, big difference from 12.
I also have an extremely healthy tank, perfect water, perfect filtration, and all around care.
That is far from a 30 gallon tank with filtration that, I quote, "sucks."
This thread is about making it clear that this Puffer should not be in this tank, and that the right thing to do would be to try and find it a suitable home to give it a shot at survival.
If you'd like to go off topic and insult me, go ahead and start a new thread and bash all you'd like. Your opnions don't affect me.

Crimzy...come on now. Everyone knows that Whitey can bash and pounce on people at having substandard housing for their fish, but at the slightest remark about his tank, he's immediately on the defense and automatically becomes the "victim"...what were you thinking?

Don't get so sensitive whitey... but you did say in another thread "He's about a foot long." I could only take you at your word then and that was 3 mo's ago so he should be bigger now. You're bashing this kid for having a 3" puffer in a tank that's probably 30" x 12" and you claim to have a 12" puffer in a 72" x 18" tank. Maybe you should lighten up on surfinusa... you offered your opinion to him... a lot of times. Do the math, his dogface has significantly more swimming room than your guineafowl. So I'm just wondering why you continue to rip a 9 yr old after already making your point?

Come on AW,
You know I always leave it to you to tell people how dumb they are for putting certain fish in certain tanks. The majority of your posts are very similar to what I've posted about this Puffer in a 30 gallon.
I thought you of all people would agree with what I've had to say in this thread.
I'm not going join in a childish war of words any more. So if that's what you're looking for, I'm sorry.
Bottom line is, my tank is not the topic of this thread. Mine is perfectly healthy, this 30 gallon tank is not. To compare the two is ridiculous.
