how long can a sick fish go without eating?

my puffer is still recovering from what I beleive to be a bacterial infection.
he has not eaten in almost 2 weeks. he is still very active. he usually eats like a pig everyday so this really concerns me. :(
how long can a sick fish go without eating?

It isn't good for them to not eat. Puffers, lions, and eels are the fish that will go on hunger strike if they are not feeling well. Entice him with a variety of foods. Using fresh garlic on the food may help. Puffers love fresh clams. Get a littleneck and crack the shell for him.
 
Yes! My new puffer is very reluctant to eat too, and I did that very same thing with Garlic Guard and a fresh littleneck clam and he always will eat the clam, but not always the other things. Most of the time with the garlic he will try just about anything. Good luck, I hope that it turns out well!
