How long can I do a freshwater dip on a Black Dogface Puffer-?

Ok. So for tonight I took out water two times, both with about 2 hours between each other. I took out about 8 gallons all together. So I guess this will be a long process to get to 1.009. Maybe I can take out 5 gallons every hour tomorrow night-?

Well, you want to bring it down to 1.009 in the course of 48 hours. Just do not rush how fast you bring it down.

Fish can tolerate a big swing, in salinity, if it's lowered. They cannot, however, handle a large salinity increase.

Hey Lion ! I didn't get to do the hypo yet in my tank. I worked late the last two nights. I will definitely do it on Sunday, taking out 5 gallons every hour. The puffer is doing better each day, eating like a horse, and the ick is clearing up.My saltnity is at 1.018.

3 to 4 weeks is recommended. How are the fish acting?
Have you picked up on more feedings?
What are your nitrates?
