Just curious. I have a sailfin tang and a purple tang that I have had in my tank for at least 10 years, any idea how long tangs and other common tank type fish live?

The Sailfin can live 50 - 60 years and the Purple 40 - 50 years.

I don't know the lifespans of most fish, only a few.
Banggai live 5 or 6 years typically.
Ocellaris Clownfish 20 - 25 years.
Neon Gobies 12 - 18 months.

There is a rumor in the hobby that Bang has one of the oldest tangs kept in the home aquarium. He has had it for 62 years. He acquired this tang when he was only 38 years old. Way to go Bang

I do not, nor I am sure Bang want to hijack this thread. But I must point out that good-natured ribbing among members is also what makes this a great place for info and fun
(Of course when it comes to Sir Q and myself its go for the jugular)
