how long do i wait??????

hey all
just today i got some live rock at my lfs and it look great i got some feather dusters and 3 hermits but how long do i wait until getting fish what is good to get first????????

Has your tank already cycled?

then dont put anything else in. the hermits will die during the cycle and so will everything else except maybe a damsel till you cycle it

I had 2 blue leg hermits hitchhike into my tank from the liverock I used to help cycle my tank. Both are still alive as far as I know, the only thing that didn't survive the cycle was a mexican turbo snail I had in there. They were the only 3 living things I had in there while the tank was cycling.

Definately wait until your tank cycles. Do not try to rush things or you will end up with dead fish. I know you are probably anxious, I was too, but it is best to just wait it out. Damsels are good starters. I got a decent sized clownfish when I first started mine up and he is still around a year and a half later. In fact he was the only fish I had in there until recently. I opted to get the clownfish because damels are know to be pretty agressive and I wanted something that I could keep around, as I get attached to things. However, clownfish can be pretty territorial as I have found out. Good luck!
