How long do you keep your lights on?

I have basic flo lights for a FOWLR tank (no fish yet). How long should I keep the lights on at night? I've got a timer to turn them off. Should I keep a night light in the room so its not such a drastic change when the lights turn off?

Hmm. That would mean no night time for the tank unless I am running the lights during part of the daytime. That can't be right. :notsure:

get a moonlight if you are concerned, i did however get one of those glade plug ins with a light sensor that turns on when the lights go out, put it near the tank, until i got an upgrade in lighting and wanted moonlights..

the moon light freak my fish out...I guess they weren't used to it, so we never used them.

You can have your lights on during the day. Mine came out at about 2pm (that's when we'd get home) and went off about 11pm (that's when we'd go to bed).
i don't have lights right now, but when I set them up, I'll have them come on during whatever hours I'm home and awake.
