How long do you let your saltwater mix set for?

I am so embarrased for asking this but I just was curious on the way others do this. After you mix your salt how long do you wait till you add it to your tank when doing water changes? Does it hurt to just mix the salt and water then dump it in 5 minutes later?

I also let mine sit and age for at least 24 hours before using it...most of the time I have 10 gal mixing in a container with a heater and 2 powerheads circulating. I try to insure the temp ...PH...and specific gravity match the levels in my display before I add new water and whenever I use some of the new mix I just refill the container and adjust levels again. Basically I have new saltwater brewing 24/7 and use it when needed.

I wait at least 48 hours. I start 3 - 4 days before a planned water change. I mix only ROI water in a large 20 gallon container. I add salt, ph balance, a heater and power head.
After two days I test the temp and sality to same specs as my tank. Then I do the water change.

I wait 24 hours.
It takes about that long for all of the chemical reactions to take place and the dissolved gasses to stabilize.
Pouring it in after 5 minutes could cause a disaster and will definately irritate everything. You won't even know what the Salinity really is for at least an hour.

I really can add much more than everyone else did. I use a 29 gallon for mixing and holding water changes. Normally its been mixing for 24-48 hours sometimes as long as 5 days, then I do the water change.

Same goes here, I mix it in a 29 gal container with 2 PH and Heater (or chiller I live Arizona and store and mix it in the garage) at least 24 hours before but it is usually several days.

Luckily I dumped 3 gallons in after it sit for 20 minutes. I could have had a bad disaster that I did not want. Although hopefully the 3 gallons will not cause a HUGE problem. Thanks for the info I will always mix 24 hours ahead now. Do you think the 3 gallons will cause a bad problem?
