How long should it take for gas bubles to form in the DSB & for it to start helping my tank out?
Just wondering,

My tank has been cycled since Feb. of this year and I just started noticing bubbles a month ago. I have no idea if that is a long time or normal though.

It usually does not take that long. I don't remeber when mine started but I think it was a month or maybe less.

depends on the quality of the sand. if you purchased truly live sand the bubbles should develop almost immediately. if not it does take awhile
good luck

I seeded 100 pounds of Southdown with 10 pounds of LS, bagged CC, and the LR. Had bubbles after a month or so.

Can you tell what you mean by bubbles? I am going to convert from CC to Live Sand soon I would like to know what to look for.

The nirtates in the DSB will turn to nitrogen gas...one of the benefits of a DSB. That gas will form into tiny bubbles that will occasionally release from the sand and float to the top of the tank. Mine happens alot when fish or inverts are messing with the sand.
