ok things just dont seem right in my tank right now, but everything tests good. im starting to wonder if somehow something got sprayed near my tank or something got in the water, i did have it under somone elses care all last weekend and a few days before it, cuase i was out of town. so im doing a large water change, 35 gallons to be exact. the tank is 55 gallons, with maybe 60-65 gallons total of water in it between the sump and fuge. the 35 gallon change was recomended by a very trusted lfs guy i go to. i realize this is going to almost completly empty my tank, untill i can start getting the water back in. how long is it ok for the corals to be exposed.. i know the quicker the better, so im gonna go as fast as i can, but i really get scared of the idea of anything being out of the water.
or is it ok to drain down to right before the corals start, then fill back up, then drain again, then fill back up?
i dont normally do changes of this size, so ive never had a problem before.

try to do the bulk of your water changes in your sump and fuge so your limited to the amount that you need to change in your dt

yeah, id like to, but the way everything is set up, its really really hard to syphon water out of my sump into a bucket. so i always go with the display tank
