how long should 1 run a pair of ai primes...

I have a 40 gallon breeder with a pair of ai primes.
Just wondering how many hours should I run my lights?
lights start ramping up around 8am and lights are off at 11:40pm
lfs told bf to run only blue lights...I find this hard to believe.
How many hours of white should they get if any?

12 on 12 off is general rule,but depends on what your live stock requires. Fish technically don't need any light
