how long till coraline algae

i have a friend who is getting a 330 watt pc lighting system on his 50 gallon reef, he wants to know how long will it take to start to see coraline growth on his rocks.

It will take a few months. Just because you upgrade your lighting dosen't nessacarly mean it will come faster. Have him keep his ca at about 450.

And keep the alk between 11 - 14 DKH, and check magnisium levels at 1200 to 1400.

I'm sure you guys know, but you'll already need the 'strains' of corralline in the tank.

Mine took a few months to really be noticeable but a friend of mines started to grow almost immediatly. We use the same products, and our levels are right on. I'd imagine it just is luck.

You also need good water flow to spread the seeds.

i use tech a and tech b, and kalkwasser regulary and the coral line has blossumed quickly, i'd say deep purple colors covering entire rocks in 3-4 months.
There is a web page that i saw that sells coraline algae "pegs" or sticks, I guess you put them in your rock and it promotes growth. I dont know the exact address but is out of hawaii i beleive,
something like indopacific reef farms, or indopacific someting or other. anyways, the guy that runs the company used to be a big time clam collector, or sometingl ike that.

hey im the buddy nerdy is talking about. I dont know how this time, maybe it is because i bought premium figi rock. I use seachem products everyother day and my coraline is everywhere. It is really going purple lately.
