Hey guys just hooking up my sump for the first time. Had a problem and needed to use PVC cement to secure a pipe plug. How long until I can start up the pump again without causing danger to tank inhabitants from the cement?

Had the same thing last night. Had to redo some pipes for my sump because of micro bubbles. I glued mine and waited about an hour then i ran the pipe underwater and ran water on the inside.Fish and corals are still alive. So basically i waited an hour.

thank you for a prompt response. I feel better. I really need to start it up and hoped I didn't have to wait 24 hours as most suggest. Thanks again.

I wiped all the excees glue off and then rinsed the pipes in the bath tub and then put them in the tank and everything was fine. So I pretty much put them to work right away.

I usually wait about half hour & have never had any problems. Im just impatient like that I guess! But seriously ive never had any issues waiting a half hour but if you can wait an hour as mentioned above I would reccomend that. Good luck.

I've had to do a quick emergency repair when a photo on the wall above my tank fell and cracked one of the PVC pipes going to the sump. Had water running in it less than 10 minutes after putting the peices together without problems. I did however, put in fresh carbon just in case!

TheGrog, Hey, You posted a reply to me about water changes ads all the additives you need. Is this true? I have a 150 gallon tank Im cycling right now, and I would appreciate some help if you could please. How much water and how often? Suggestion for current? Suggestion for protein skimmer? And so on. If this is possible please post a reply to me, Thanks
