How long without lights? Will they survive?

The difference would be intent. Intent to use the product, only to return it. That is deceitful and stealing in my book as well. Not sure why you can't understand that.

If you buy something intending to use it and take it back, it is theft.
Once its used, it can't be sold as new. period. You have removed value from the item that cannot be replaced. The store refunds you the full amount of the purchase price because as you put it, "they have a good return Policy" and you have effectively stolen the decrease in value. They may not treat you like a thief yet, but do it a few more times and see what happens.
If its an item that doesn't work, doesn't fit, or you decide not to use its an entirely different matter.
If you are old enough to type, and cannot understand this simple principle, there is no way that I could ever explain it to you.
There are stores all over ---- devoted to trying to recapture some value for goods that "Honest" consumers like you have bought, used, and returned.
You really think stores don't turn around and sell that stuff as new?
Not that I disagree that that it is less than ethical to buy something use it as a single use then return it.

i think if you buy an item and the store says you can return it if its not what you thought or doesnt work fo you than trying it out and returning it because it doesnt work fo you or not what you thought it was then thats okay. buying something and using it with out any problems and then returning it after you dont need it any more is wrong. i dont know if that is steeling just deceitful..... Two things:
1. Someone local was kind enough to lend me some lights, thank you!
2. I also agree that buying something, just to use it for a short period of time and then return it is wrong...not stealing, not theft, but wrong...ethically....morally. Its good more people don't do that, because then prices would skyrocket, stores would start charging restocking fees (some do) and then people who are normal would have to endure those extra issues.
Heck the superbowl is coming up, why not but that huge flat screen TV so you can watch the game and then return it the next day...
Anyhow, I think this thread is done.

Stimpy, if you could just give us an update, I'd be interested to hear. Did Solaris ever get back to you/the situation handled, or are you just using the borrowed lights for now? And also, how's everything doing?
