How many Chromis in a 240g reef?

I'm in the process of redoing my 240g FOWLR and restocking with all Blue Reef & Green Chromis with a few damsels here and there.
I'll also throw my 30" DME in as well.
The reef will be under 16 T5's powered by IC 660's. Planned corals are softies, zoos, & shrooms with some Monti Caps up high.
How many Chromis is "enough"...30, 40, 50, +?
Tank in 96x24x24.

If you put 50 chromis in a 240, you are not going to see anything but a blue blur going by (too many).
But it's really not going to matter. With chromis, you will end up eventually with 1. They will slowly pick each other off.

With 50 you might have enough that not one chromis can decide who to pick on, It would be cool to watch a large school go by, but wont you eel eat them?

My eel is pretty good, he will "Try" to eat new comers and may get 1 out of 5-6 but once they are in the tank they are typically safe.
I have had a dozen in a 75g with him for a year or more with no casualties.
I thought Chromis were the passive one's vs Damsels? And in an 8' tank should they not be able to escape any wrath of a dominant fish?
