i just recently purchased a 75 gallon and have a couple of domino damsels, how many fish can you usually keep in this size tank without ever overcrowding them?

one inch for every five gallons in a fish-only. one inch for every seven gallons in a reef tank. of course you can get away with more but keep an eye on your levels and how much waste your tank can handle. its all in the setup from the get go

ditto with Rock's reply, but also remember your tank set up is NEW. While a 75gal can probably handled 10 small fish, it CAN'T handle it all at once. Let your damsels settle in for a couple of months, and when your tank has cycled thru and all water conditions are good, then add 1-2 more at a time. Never add fish unless you have perfect water conditions.

the rule of inch of fish per 5 gallons is a good one to follow, but it depends on the kind of fish you have and the bioload. if you have any kind of aggressive carnivores, ie groupers, etc, the bioload will be heavy, so you dont want alot of fish, but if you have relatively small fish, ie gobies, clowns, pygmy angels, then you could have a few more. just watch your water conditions and go slowly about adding fish, otherwise you will learn the hard way when your system crashes from overload. hth <img src="graemlins//silly.gif" border="0" alt="[silly]" />
