I would hate to think about how many I've lost over the years, 50 or more over the 20 years that I've been keeping saltwater fish. In the last year I have probably lost a dozen, most of them for no decernable reason, I hate that the most, when I don't know why.

Well, Ive had my setup for about 4 years. My first fish, a puffer, I had for about 2 yrs. Im not sure it was my fault he died or not. He appeared to be totally healthy, then one day he just stopped eating for no apparent reason. No other signs of illness. I tried every thing, and every medication. He finally died after starving for about 5 months.
After that, I tried a shark egg. I sucessfully hatched him. He lived for a few months, but I couldnt get him to sucessfully feed and he died. Then I lost faith and let my husband maintain the tank. He had a humu humu trigger which lived maybe a year. Then some unknown fish, he bought cause it was pretty and didnt bother to find out what it was. He lived maybe 6 months. Most recently, he had a leaf lip soap fish, who lived about 6 months. Im positive that all of the fish that died in my husbands care, died from poor water quality as he was not on top of things like he should have been. (Also, along the way, we had things like blue damsels and crabs in there but those dont really count cause they mostly got eaten.) My tank is empty now, and I just redid it from scratch. Its cycling now, and Im hoping to get another puffer in there soon. (And Ill be taking care of him, not my "fish killer" husband!!)

Well.... When I beganm I was ill informed, but there IS a reason why I called my first 20 gallon tank the "death pit". Enough said there. I probably wasted about 30 fish in my whole 2 years. Since Ive had the 55, maybe 5 fish have died. Well, more, due to some crazy disease that I didnt know about. Yet, since ive had my uv sterilizer, its been disease free. Sorry, let me count off on the 55. The 20 gallon was too much, but i lost a doliatus rabbitfish from bad ph and putting them in too soon (i still dint know about cycling, but I HAD used filter pads and water from the old tank) Then a butterfly to the "disease". Then, the 3 clowns killed by the killer clown. There was also the shark I hatched, but he died at the lfs trying to get him to eat. Then there was that angel fish (my one eyed fishy) and then a gramma and a longnose hawk at the lfs after my tank reverse siphoned all over the house. Since March, no dead fish:D
