Something I never thought of until now that I am setting up a nano.
The tank is a 12g but after rock and equiment it only took 8g of water so should I do all the math for 8 or 12g?
Thanks,
Janet

You need to do the math for 8 Gallons. it stinks but your tank will be better off by going by that number.

The watts per gallon isn't a good rule.
What type of coral are you wanting to keep?(SPS,LPS,Softies)

Well I am planning on just zoos, mushrooms and easy sofies for now see how I like it. Then if I like it then I will think about upgrades on lighting maybe even on my 90. So just gathering as much info as I can.
Right now it is stocked with the 24w compact. I have looked up some retro fitting ideas just not ready to jump in. I dont think I will go as strong as the MH's but maybe T-5's later on on the 90. And maybe double up the 24's to 48's on the nano.
I have yellow poylps so far all is running smooth.
Thanks

A 24watt on a 12gal would be able to support the softies you mentioned but if you wanted to add another 24watts go for it.
