I just asked this question a few days ago and most people said from 8-12 hours

I have a 12gal w/dual fans. I have about 6lbs of rock & live sand.
There is 1 shrimp and some crabs at this time. Getting a few fish and shrimps & a couple more crabs.
My question is, I am NOT putting any corals in it or anmonees. It will NOT be a reef. How long should I leave the lights on ? I figured about 12 hours... Does this sound wright ? :thinking:
Almost all the stuff you read about on these forums is for reef tanks. I understand thats what its all about for most people but for those of use who want to do something different it's hard to find info.
I even know of a website that has a section for "Nano" fish. They stay real small etc.
Anyway, back to the lighting question please .....
