how many is too many?

another quick question. my girlfriend and I have a 29g tank. we currently have 4 fish and some inverts, as well. I've considered getting more fish but no more that 1-3. is this too many for this size of tank, or would that be ok.
I assume it has a lot to do with the size of fish, so just to help, we currently have a yellow tang, a clownfish, a bicolor angel, and a firefish goby. I am considering getting 1-2 three stripe damsels and/or a bicolor pseudochromis/royal dottyback.
all advise is appreciated. thanks a lot!

Please dont post identical threads of the same topic. We see them all regardless of what section you start them in. By the way, that tang should not be in a 29 gallon and I would say you are maxed out already.

I agree. Unfortunately most LFS's are attempting to make money and don't mind selling tangs to owners of small tanks. I really think you should return the fish. I think if you take out the tang you could possible look at a clown goby because of their size it would fit.

I also agree. If you take the tang back you could add a bi-color or dottyback. The damsels are known to be very aggressive towards their tankmates.

Not a good idea as bicolor dottybacks are one of the most aggressive species of their kind. Those 3 Striped Damsels are out too as they become very aggressive as the get larger. Research before you buy any more fish.

Ya take the tang out and dont get damsels as they will pick on your fish. Then you will want to take them out and you wont be able to catch them, maybe consider a sixline wrasse or royal gramma

first of all, my apologies for the duplicate post. I'm new to the message board and wasn't sure if certain people read certain columns. I was just looking for the most feedback as possible.
as for the tang, it was actually purchased on this website, so I am unable to "take it back". I found out, later, that it should have a larger tank. However, it's lived in this tank since August and seems to be doing quite well. I will most likely look into a larger tank in the future.
ok... so no more fish. thanks for the advise.

hi. while since you can not return the tang mabey if you have a friend with a bigger tank mabey you could keep it at their house intil you upgrade or you could try to sell it to your lfs. By the way, dont get damsels they are a mean fish and a pain to get out.
